So what's the deal about patents and government work?

If you want to do government work or patents, it is your life and your choice. I advise you not to, but you should be free to make your own decisions.

If you want someone to create patents for you, or you want to do work for the military or the government, please look elsewhere for help. I will help you create great products so you can get wealthy serving your customers, but I will not help you hurt others in court or on the battlefield.

I am here on this earth to use my skills and knowledge to help other people. In a well tuned free market system, the best way to do that is to design great products to sell. I love making a good product better.

My name is on 9 patents, and someday I may have my name on more. I prefer to avoid this. A patent does not directly serve customers. A U.S. patent is no more than a license to sue others, either American customers or American producers, preventing them from serving each other. The U.S. economy is damaged enough already.

There are proper missions for the U.S. military and the U.S. government; they are specified in the U.S. Constitution, and are intended to preserve American freedom. Over the last century, the government has been corrupted into a destroyer of freedom, using the military to create enemies, and taxes and legislation to suppress diversity and enforce conformity. Government funds are acquired at gunpoint. I don't want that money.

In spite of the corruption of government and the patent system, I will not violate existing laws. I will not copy proprietary software, evade taxes, knowingly violate patents, or expose the secrets of my clients or my country. I will support legal political efforts to stop laws and taxation and foreign wars when proper. I will help my clients design around the patents of others, or help them legally eliminate bad ones. I am strict about following the law; I just want fewer laws to worry about!

All that said, there are still many wonderful ways to use technology to help others. If you want to make products that serve customers, if you want to protect your market through superior performance and value, if you want to increase freedom and comfort for Americans and the rest of the world, then let's work together!
